What is a Knop?
        KNOP
Two Hebrew words are thus rendered. One, Ex 25:31; Ex 37:17, from the connection, probably denotes an imitation of the fruit of the almond used in the ornamental work of the sacred candlestick; translated "lintel," margin "chapiter" or "knop." Am 9:1; Zeph 2:14. The other describes carvings upon the cedar wainscot within the temple, and castings upon the brim of the brazen sea. 1 Kgs 6:18; 1 Kgs 7:24. There is reason to think that these knops were representations of the beautiful fruit of the colocynth. See Gourd, Wild.
