What is Hammath?
        HAM'MATH
(warm springs), a fortified city in Naphtali, Josh 19:35, and probably identical with Hummam, or "Warm Springs," about 1 mile south of Tiberias. It is still noted for its hot, sulphurous waters, which are too nauseous to drink, but are used for bathing and are regarded as possessing great medicinal qualities. The walls of an old town can be traced near the baths. Hammath is probably Ihe same as Hammon, No. 2, and as Hammothdor.
