Prophecy of, relates chiefly to the invasion of Judaea by the Chaldeans, Hab 1, and the subsequent punishment of the Chaldeans themselves, ch. Hab 2. The passage Hab 2:4, "the just shall live by his faith," furnished to Paul the text for his Epistle to the Romans. Rom 1:17; comp. Gal 3:11. The third chapter is an eloquent and sublime psalm upon the majesty of God. Bishop Lowth says, "This anthem is unequalled in majesty and splendor of language and imagery."
