Lake Semichonitis Huleh
H4 on the Map
Lake Semichonitis was the name that Josephus used to refer to it (Ant. v.1; iii Wars x.7; iv Wars i:1).
Lake Huleh was the Greek name of the lake called in Rabbiinic literature: Sea of Samcho (Simchu).
From the lower end of the lake the Jordan River enters the Great Rift below sea-level. It descends a narrow gage in an almost continual cascade dropping almost 700 feet in less than 9 miles and then slows down as it enters its own delta and deposits quietly into the Sea of Galilee.
Maps are essential for any serious Bible study, they help students of the Scriptures understand the geographical locations and historical backgrounds of the places mentioned in the Bible.
