Shewolf Statue
This great bronze Etruscan shewolf was discovered on the Capitoline. This statue of a weary protective
she-wolf with a lions mane dates back to about 480 BC and became the emblem for
Rome. The babies (Romulus and Remus sucking) were added later sometime during the renaissance (15th cent. BC.).
