Ital. Appennino, a mountain range running the entire length of the Italian peninsula from NW to SW. It extends south 840 miles from the Cadibona Pass in Liguria, NW Italy, where the Apennines join with the Ligurian Alps, to the Strait of Messina. Their Highest peak is 9585 ft.
