Verses 3-4
Another charge, equally severe, was illustrated by Robertson, they:
"bound together, like sheaves, heavy burdens of rules for Sabbath observance,
and laid them on the shoulders of men, like the heartless camel-driver the
heavy burdens on the sore backed beast of burden; and were not willing to lift a
finger to lighten the burden."
They did not make any effort whatsoever to keep their own rules. With a rapid
stroke of His brush, He paints another picture of them on the canvas and their
vanity stands forth in vivid colors. All their works they go on doing to be
seen and praised of men. They thought they were so holy and righteous that they
became blinded to the fact that they were man pleasers and not God pleasers.
