| Mel Gibson didn\'t write the movie. He stole it from me many years ago. I sent a copy of the script in 1994 to Rosie Greer for his review. It was my intent at the time to produce the movie. Because I was a novice and couldn\'t garner assistance from any of the large networks, my staff and I decided to table the project. Interestingly enough, when The Passion of the Christ was released, I was abhorred to find that the movie, purported to have been written by Mel Gibson, was in fact my movie, which had the working title \"The Man, The Legend, The Life\". I have to say that he did a good job with my script! |

| The movie brought a reality that is lacking in most people\'s peception of what Jesus/Yeshua went through in order to redeem mankind. This movie is not for the faint of heart. Even with today\'s level of violence, the movie breaks through the desensitization of the masses and tells the story in a unique and very believable way. I did not feel that this movie was anti-semitic, in fact, it brought out feelings of compassion for the Jewish people. |

| I sat in awe as the events unfolded on the screen. Even though I know the story of Christ\'s sacrifice, to see it in such detail was both humbling and horrifying. Humbling because I was reminded just how unworthy I am and horrifying because the suffering Christ endured was so great that even with the portions shown by \'Passion\', I still can not fully image what He went through. | My family and I saw it in the theaters, and subsequently purchased a copy on DVD. I felt the movie was biblically accurate, despite some suggestions that Gibson was inspired by a 18 or 19th century catholic author. It is not for the faint-hearted. Being a born-again Christian, I viewed it as the ultimate act of love and sacrifice that Jesus could have chosen, yes chosen, toward me, a sinner. But the only act that could exceed the Son\'s sacrifice, would be for the Father to stand by and allow his Son to sacrifice himself in so terrible a manner. How could either love me enough to give so much? I don\'t recommend the movie to young children, but it had a great affect on my teenagers. Personally, I was sobbing before the scourging scene ended, and I was 40 years old and a former Marine. This movie\'s impact is at once emotionally devastating and incredibly uplifting. Thank you Mel Gibson for putting it on film. Some people criticized it as encouraging Maryology, but what I saw in the film was the normal interaction of a mother and her son. The mother wanting to spare her child, and the son seeking to lessen her grief. It is a must-see movie for anyone who wishes to understand why Calvary is so important, not only to Christians, but to the whole world. |

This beautiful film was NOT too brutal NOR too bloody - in fact it was NOT brutal or bloody enough to portray the ACTUAL torture that the the Lord Jesus Christ, the SON of Almighty GOD, suffered for and from His creation, through the evil that was received into the minds and hearts of those who remained separated from GOD and lived in their sins. For those who decry the \"bloody\" and \"brutal\" acts in the film will go out and buy books to read or see movies from hollywood that display evil acts with rape and dismemberment and torture more brutal and bloody and without any merit other than the demented minds of the writers and producers. The will of the LORD was in this film and will prevail in the minds and hearts of those who see it and open themselves to the truth! | The movie \"The Passion of the Christ\" was, for the most part, Biblically accurate. There are a few scenes in which \"artistic license\" was taken, but it was within the scope of the Biblical account. Examples of this \"artistic license\" were demonic baby Satan was carrying, the demonic children tormenting Judas, and the woman wiping the blood off of Jesus\' face on the way to the crucifixion site. Also Mary\'s role was way overemphasized beyond what the Bible describes. As with any film based on the Bible, we should always compare what we see and hear with what the Bible actually says. Overall, if you see the movie \"The Passion of the Christ\" and read the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) - you will find that the movie follows the Bible very closely. |

I thought that as he believes he is one of two witnesses he would be the person I should give important information to. I watched it with fear because I had already heard how strong it was and because I somehow knew it was going to be the closest to the truth until now or maybe the only one. | As a person who owns this wonderful film, I was initialy overwhelmed completely with this very dramatic portrayal of the last few days and passion of our Lord and Savior JESUS/YESHUA. I was awed by my Adonai\'s love, suffering, and beauty throughout this film. This film was more than marvelous...and above exceptional. This was the best and most historically accurate, cinematic depiction of the slain, but victorious Lamb of God that I have ever viewed in my life. As I viewed this film, it was difficult to avoid entering into the moods, feelings, words, and thoughts of the precious Lamb of God....the one who suffered to takes away the sin of the world. I was riveted to his every movement, facial expression, sigh of agony...and yes...the drops and spillages of blood! I finished viewing this film with such a deep and lasting reverence for all that Adonai has done for me and a greater appreciation for his love and mercy. In addition, I have great joy and peace within because the Holy Word makes so much more sense. I have deepened in a knowledge of Yeshua\'s atonement for the sins of all mankind, but especially for my own sins. This film has impacted my understanding of Yeshua\'s atoning sacrifice that no other films or pictures have done previously. In sum, \"The Passion of Christ\" is a film for all-times, histories, humans, cultures, societies, civilizations, etc. It is a film that speaks to the inner soul needs of ALL humanity. It is a classic in it\'s own right and should be continually viewed and reviewed by believers and unbelievers, critics and skeptics alike. It was the right film done at the right time! |

| As a person who owns this wonderful film, I was initialy overwhelmed completely with this very dramatic portrayal of the last few days and passion of our Lord and Savior JESUS/YESHUA. I was awed by my Adonai\'s love, suffering, and beauty throughout this film. This film was more than marvelous...and above exceptional. This was the best and most historically accurate, cinematic depiction of the slain, but victorious Lamb of God that I have ever viewed in my life. As I viewed this film, it was difficult to avoid entering into the moods, feelings, words, and thoughts of the precious Lamb of God....the one who suffered to takes away the sin of the world. I was riveted to his every movement, facial expression, sigh of agony...and yes...the drops and spillages of blood! I finished viewing this film with such a deep and lasting reverence for all that Adonai has done for me and a greater appreciation for his love and mercy. In addition, I have great joy and peace within because the Holy Word makes so much more sense. I have deepened in a knowledge of Yeshua\'s atonement for the sins of all mankind, but especially for my own sins. This film has impacted my understanding of Yeshua\'s atoning sacrifice that no other films or pictures have done previously. In sum, \"The Passion of Christ\" is a film for all-times, histories, humans, cultures, societies, civilizations, etc. It is a film that speaks to the inner soul needs of ALL humanity. It is a classic in it\'s own right and should be continually viewed and reviewed by believers and unbelievers, critics and skeptics alike. It was the right film done at the right time! |

| As this thread and discussion appears to be \"old\", I just wanted to make another comment about responses, or which appears to be a lack in responses from those of the Jewish community. I really don\'t think it\'s fair to accuse and judge all Jews based on what the film itself illustrated. Instead, we who love and honor the memory of our blessed Redeemer do well to show and exemplify the love of Christ to ALL unbelievers. \"All we like sheep have gone astray...and the Lord has laid upon him the iniquity of us ALL.\" That scriptural verse should put to silence any self-righteousness on the part of any of us. ALL of our collective sins put him on the cross and his love for all humankind kept him there. Each of us must meet God\'s requirements and conditions. There is none that doeth righteousness no not one. Lastly, we are urged by Jesus/Yeshua to \"judge not that we be not judged.\" Let us not allow ourselves to judge...even those from the Jewish community who are yet to receive Yeshua as Adonai. He won our hearts and lives and can certainly win their hearts as well. But if these dear ones see professing Christians judging and condemning, they might not be able to see any of the love of God in this regard. |

| Although my commentary is somewhat belated, the Passion of Christ seems to have paled all other films about our Lord\'s suffering into insignificance. It almost appears that all other films on the crucifixion of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in spite of commendable efforts on the part of their producers, are no more than a child\'s play. The ability to relive a real-life experience and, of course, revive some of the languages that are no more in actual existence like Latin and Chaldean (Aramaic), ability to represent Isaiah 5 effectively to the eye, and paint a lucid picture of our Lord\'s sacrificial death on the cross on the minds of the countless viewers from all over the globe, attests not only to excellence of artistic creation, but to God\'s ultimate design to bring the message of salvation through His only begotten to Son to all humankind through every availble medium, that all may know that indeed there is salvation in no other name than the saving, justifying, sanctifying, glorifying and miracle-working name of YAHSHUA HA MASHIYACH, Jesus the Christ, Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews and of the whole earth! But I will urge Mel Gibson to answer these two questions: (1) How were you able to do it with, i.e. revive successfully, the Latin in the mouths of Pilate and his wife and the Aramaic being the language of the Jews in the days of our Lord Jesus Christ? (2) What do you say to one of the reactions that has clearly indicted you of having hijacked somebody else\'s concept in a script that was sent to you as a proposal, I suppose, and for which you have seemingly not given any credit to the original writer? |

| I agree completely with the writer of the commentary of the movie on this page. I think the movie really opens the eyes and understanding of any viewer to the deep love God has for mankind and the great sacrifice that Christ offered to redeem us - HIS LIFE. It also depicts exactly what the prophet Isaiah wrote in his book Isaiah 53. I have personally never taken my salvation for granted especially after watching this movie. One could easily take the suffering of Christ for granted, but the WORD OF TRUTH, (which is the word of God) together with this movie, through the POWER and WORKING of the HOLY SPIRIT will make it more real to any viewer with an open heart, so real that one could never ignore the pain and suffering OUR LORD endured and allow it to go waste but to respond to HIS LOVE. Am really humbled at the LOVE MY LORD JESUS HAS FOR ME. |

| IMHO, the film was far too violent. There is no verse(s) in Scripture that describe the extreme violence of, for instance, the scourging as portrayed here. This only contributed to the sensationalism perpetrated in the mind of Mel Gibson and the RCC. Also nothing of the bridge or the chains binding Christ. To strive for realism is fine; but to capitalize and sensationalize violence for violence sake; just to attract the type of audience to which that appeals, in order to increase box office \'take\', I believe to be blasphemous. Unfortunately, for those viewers who do not know the true, Biblical path of salvation (Grace, through Faith, in Jesus Christ), would not have learned the Gospel from watching this film. The film is certain to cause sympathy, even in the most hardened person; however, sympathy will not save your soul.
