Palestine During Joshua's Time
| The land of Palestine during the time of Joshua. The twelve tribes are listed separately. Joshua proved to be an excellent general by his victory over the Amalekites (Exod 17:9, 13). After Moses' death, according to the Book of Joshua, Joshua led the Israelites in their conquest of the highlands of central Palestine and during the distribution of the land among the twelve tribes, from the crossing of the Jordan (Josh 3) and the fall of Jericho (Josh 6) to the renewal of the covenant at Shechem (Josh 24). |
