This coin of Tiberius Caesar' dates from the time of Jesus. The wording reads from right to left: "TI (BERIUS) CAESAR DIVI AUG (GUSTI) F
(ILIUS) AUGUSTUS" Translated it reads (Tiberius Caesar, august son of the deified Augustus).
This coin is the silver denarius. According to Mat 22:19 the denarius was the
tribute required of every Israelite by the Roman ruler, and was therefore
called tribute money.
