Agrippa left and turned to L. Pomponius Flaccus, the Roman legate (governor)
of Syria, who he had known previously at Rome. Agrippa made a mistake by
accepting a bribe from the people of Damascus to help Flaccus with the people of
Sidon. Agrippa's brother and enemy Aristobulus brought the bribe to the attention
of flaccus and he and Agrippa quarreled.
