Pirathon was the birthplace and burial place of the Judge Abdon, son of Hillel. It was located in the land of Ephraim, in the Mount of the Amalekites (Judg 12:14-15). It was also the home town of Benaiah, one of David's "mighty men" (II Sam 23:30).
Today it has been identified with the Arab village of Farata, SW of Shechem.
