Money Changers
The Gk. trapezites (Mt 25:27), "Bankers," is a general term for a money
changer, broker, banker; one who exchanges money for a fee and pays interest on
deposits. The fact that this occupation had become characterized by greed may
account for the strong language and harsh attitude of Jesus in (Mt. 21:12) and (Mk
11:15).
